Community Supported Agriculture (CSA’s) Programs
CSA’s are a popular way for consumers to buy local, seasonal food directly from a farmer and contribute to the sustainability of local agriculture. The farmer offers a certain number of “shares” of produce at the beginning of the season. You buy a share or half-share and receive seasonal produce each week throughout the farming season.
This arrangement is a mutually beneficial one of shared risk and shared reward. The farmer works hard to deliver a beautiful and bountiful amount of produce each week, and hopes that Mother Nature cooperates. It’s a way for you to invest in local farming and receive your dividends in food.
