The Greater Newburyport Area is well served by public transportation including commuter rail and bus systems. It also has an extensive network of multi-use trails connecting the communities of Amesbury, Newbury, Newburyport, and Salisbury.
Public Transportation
MBTA Commuter Rail provides daily train service between Newburyport and Boston.
MVRTA (Merrimack Valley Regional Transit Authority) provides bus service Monday through Saturday connecting the towns of Amesbury, Newburyport and Salisbury.
C&J Trailways – Daily bus service to Boston serving Logan Airport, Government Center, the Financial District and South Station as well as north to Portsmouth, Durham and Dover, NH.
Coach Company – Boston Commuting from Boxford, Georgetown, Groveland, Haverhill, Newburyport, Plaistow, Peabody and Topsfield.
Coastal Trails Network
The Coastal Trails Network is a developing 30-mile public system of bicycle and pedestrian trails connecting the Massachusetts communities of Amesbury, Newbury, Newburyport and Salisbury. The network includes the Clipper City Rail Trail in Newburyport, the Old Eastern Marsh Trail and Ghost Trail in Salisbury and the Riverwalk in Amesbury.
